What Dress Code: Past Meets Present

This past Thursday, I had the pleasure of attending a really fun little fete at The Textile Museum up in Dupont — aptly called “Beauty and the East.” Amid beautiful tent craftings from the talented Panda Head, tasty cocktails, and some flower-assembling, we also discovered the newly opened exhibit, “The Sultan’s Garden: The Blossoming of Ottoman Art.”

And as we were meandering through the exhibit, I couldn’t help but notice just how distinctly the textiles mimicked a lot of the beautifully printed pants I’ve been seeing popping up EVERYWHERE this fall. The lush brocades and jacquards set in rich hues with plenty of heft — this is a true case of textile inspiration. And suffice it to say, my fancy pants fit the bill beautifully…
