What Dress Code: Fashion Meets Food

A few friends of mine are always asking me whether such and such vegetable is in season — and after about 50 iterations of me going on about how this fruit is going to be so good at the farmer’s market, because said fruit is in season, my boyfriend suggested I make a chart so I can share my knowledge (even if it may not be that obscure).

I’m actually not really sure why I have such a general knowledge of what’s in or out of season — I grew up gardening (or rather being instructed by my parents to weed the veggie garden or else), and I developed a certain sense for it. So this time around I decided to alter the chart and fuse two of my favorite things — food and fashion! I found a remarkable correlation between the best of fall produce and the best of fall apparel. Mind, about to be blown…

I can’t really decide whether this post makes me hungry or makes me want to shop, but to supplement the clothing linksies, how about some fall fare recipes for weekend inspiration…

Baked Orzo with Eggplant and Mozzarella

Apple and Cheddar Scones

Fall Vegetable Curry with Cauliflower

Sautéed Broccoli Rabe

Wild Rice with Balsamic Mushrooms

Apple and Cranberry Crisp

Artichoke Crostini

Acorn Squash and Sweet Potato Soup

Ok, so there might be more than one apple recipe in there, but I’m picking those suckers straight from the tree this weekend so you’ll just have to understand my anticipation!
